What benefits do I receive when I become a Square River distributor?
In addition to the tax benefits of having your own business and the freedom
and flexibility of being your own boss there are several benefits.
First of all, as a distributor you have access to the thousands of products
in our catalog at the low "distributors' cost" prices. You can see some
of these products in our online store, but our online store only has a
fraction of the products that are available to you as a distributor. Your
"distributor cost" price is between 40% to 60% of the retail price,
which is the price in the catalog.
We also have marketing and promotional materials and programs available to
you to allow you the time to focus on your customers, their needs, increasing your sales and your profits. You are in business for yourself with our program, but not by yourself.
Finally, we have a philosophy which strives to put you in control. You
have the flexibility to decide which of our promotional materials and
programs to utilize. You decide which product niche, if any, you wish to
concentrate on. You decide how much time you wish to work and consequently
how much you wish to earn..
I want an internet business where my web site does all the work for me. Is your distributor program right for me?
No. Not at all. First of all be skeptical of anyone offering you something for nothing. Check it out thoroughly.
Additionally, selling products on the internet is a very price competitive business. We compete by being very good at what we do. That is, we process orders efficiently and offer excellent customer service. Even so, we offer the featured products on our site at very deep discounts off the regular retail price. This allows us to satisfy the typical internet user who is able to quickly search for the best price online.
Our distributor program is designed to be most effective when used for party sales, fairs, swap meets and flea markets. The typical party customer is not as interested in doing internet searches for the lowest possible price although they are still seeking value in their purchase. You and the party host provide a valuable service through your assistance and providing the party. Likewise, the typical fair attendant is less price competitive and more value/service oriented due to the location and nature of the setting at the fair grounds. This is the area where our distributor program excels.
What does it cost to become a Square River distributor?
There is a one time $50 (fifty dollar) processing fee which must be paid to establish your membership account as a Square River distributor.
This fee includes your initial materials and is rebated back to you when your volume (cumulative cost of orders placed) reaches $500 (five hundred dollars).
As a distributor, what is my relationship to Square River? Am I an employee or representative or agent of Square River?
First of all our relationship with you, our distributor is very special to
us. For Square River to prosper you the distributor must succeed. But to
answer, No you are not.
The relationship is not one of employee nor representative nor agent.
Square River's relationship to you, the distributor, is one of supplier or
vendor. It is structured this way specifically to maximize your control
and consequently your success.
Can I sell items from other suppliers or do I have to sell only Square River items.?
You are in control of your distributor business and you may sell any products you choose.
We offer over 3,000 products to our distributors from the catalog. This wide selection makes it easy for you to give your customers what they want without spending time searching for additional vendors. However, if you choose to develop a niche area you may want to offer your customers a wider selection to choose from.
Do I have to buy in large quantities to receive the low "distributors' cost" prices?
No. The low "distributors' cost" prices are not based on a volume discount. As a distributor, you may buy one item or several at the same low price.
Do I have to order products in advance and carry an inventory of products?
No, unless you choose to. Most of our programs are based on you using the promotional materials ( the catalog, etc.) to take orders from your customers. Only after you receive the order and payment do you place an order for products from us.
The exception to this situation would be if you were selling at a fair or flea market where you needed products on hand.
Do you drop ship the orders to my customers?
No. We believe you should be in control of your customers. We ship the product to you and you control all contact with your customers. We will never ask for the names of your customers.
Are there prices in the catalogs?
Yes. All of the products in the catalog have prices. These prices are the suggested retail price.
Our company name is not on the catalogs. When you show the catalogs to potential customers they see the products and the suggested retail price but not who your supplier is.
Can I get a catalog or place an order with Square River before deciding if I want to be a Square River distributor?
Yes. You are more than welcome to order items from our online store. To enter our online store click Retail on the menu to the left. Catalogs are available for a small fee to cover shipping and handling.
Are your products guaranteed?
Yes. We believe in giving the customers what they pay for. We have a 30 day return policy for products purchased from our online retail store. We guarantee delivery and customer satisfaction on the products we sell.
How do I handle returns and defective products for my customers?
The warranty on products differs depending upon the product. Some products have manufacturer warranties and your customer can deal directly with the manufacturer for replacement.
For other products our 30 day return policy would allow you to return the product for refund or credit. Volume returns by a distributor, however, may be subject to a restocking fee.
Do I need a business license to be a distributor?
Although the laws of each state and locality are different, most states require a person who sells merchandise to fill out a form to register as a retailer.
Are there any restrictions on how I operate my distributor business?
Any member of our distributor program who uses our catalogs and promotional materials must not bring discredit to the program through illegal or dishonest dealings. Pyramid type programs, or any program resembling a pramid scheme, using our catalogs and promotional materials is forbidden. We reserve the right to cancell membership and/or refuse to sell catalogs and promotional materials to any member found violating this rule.
Can I operate effectively from my home?
Yes. In fact, many distributors do exactly that.
Can I use a Post Office Box as my business address?
Yes. But a street address - even a personal address - is preferable, since it gives you the appearance of stability. For shipping purposes, remember that UPS and Federal Express will not deliver to P.O. boxes.
